.)  Tonight’s match-up is sixth and final contest this season between the Los Angeles Kings and the Dallas Stars. The division rivals have had a few close games in 2008-09. Of the five games played between the two clubs so far this season, four have gone into overtime and three were decided in a shootout. The Stars have defeated the Kings in one game this season, Jan. 17, with a shootout goal scored by Mike Ribeiro to earn the win, 3-2. The Stars played the club less than a week ago, Mar. 26 in Dallas, and will be looking to avenge the 1-0 shootout loss they suffered from the Kings.

.)  Garrett Stafford recorded his two first NHL points last night against the Phoenix Coyotes. He was credited with assists on the Stars’ first and fourth goals. The defenseman has been an offensive machine for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL this season, recording 42 points through 67 games. He has played in the AHL for six seasons and has totaled at least 40 points four times. Stafford skated in his third NHL game last night.

.)  Mike Ribeiro continues to stack up the points. Last night against the Phoenix Coyotes, Ribeiro was credited with three assists for his team-leading 19th multiple-point game of the season. Including the center’s 20 goals this season, he has totaled 73 points through 76 games. Among league leaders, Ribeiro is tied for ninth in assists (53) and 20th in points (73). He is three assists away from matching his career high in assists, set last season (56).

.)  Matt Niskanen is continuing to contribute offensively, as he was credited with two assists in Phoenix last night. He currently paces all defensemen on the club in points (32) and assists (26) and is ranked seventh overall in points. The second-year defenseman has set new career highs in assists and points in 2008-09 and is one goal away from matching his career high in goals, set last year (7). Niskanen has skated in 74 games for the Stars this season and has recorded 80 hits and 60 blocked shots.

.)  One to watch for: Dustin Brown, the Los Angeles Kings captain, continues to be a steady contributor for his club. In 73 games this season, he has scored 24 goals and 29 assists for 53 points. The left wing has a knack for getting the puck on net, and he is ranked ninth in the NHL in shots (278). The Ithaca, NY native, is ranked third in the NHL in hits with 268. In 30 career games against the Stars, Brown has scored 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points.
