.)  Tonight’s match-up is the sixth and final contest this season between the Phoenix Coyotes and the Dallas Stars. The Stars have won two games against Phoenix this season and will be looking to get to .500 against the club tonight. The Stars and Coyotes have played in overtime in two of the last three meetings. Dallas is 71-53-14 all time against Phoenix, including 37-26-5 on the road.

.)  Mike Ribeiro’s goal against Florida on Saturday night was his 20th of the season and one of the prettiest of his career as he was able to shoot the puck through his own legs. He finished the night with two points, adding an assist on Matt Niskanen’s goal, which put him at 70 points on the season (20g, 50a). While his point total will most likely not match his 2007-08 total (83), he will still be finishing with one of the strongest offensive seasons for a Dallas Star in recent history. Since the 1999-00 season, Dallas has had six different players score more than 70 points in a season and only Ribeiro (2) and Mike Modano (5) have accomplished that feat more than once in that span.

.)  Loui Eriksson added another assist to his season total on Saturday night against the Florida Panthers. Eriksson, currently in his third season at the NHL level, has scored 33 goals and 25 assists for 58 points on the season. He has set new career highs in almost every category and leads the Stars in goals, plus/minus (+11) and is second in overall points. The 23-year-old has also been a solid defensive forward for the Stars. Eriksson is ranked tied for fourth in the NHL in takeaways with 75 and has blocked 30 shots this season.

.)  Defensemen Dan Jancevksi and Garrett Stafford were called up to the NHL level on an emergency basis on Sunday. Jancevksi, who has been playing for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL this season, has been a solid defenseman for the club recording one goal and 27 assists for 28 points and posting a +23 rating through 72 games. He has played in six NHL games, recording two penalty minutes. Stafford has spent this season with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL. He has played in 67 games this season recording 11 goals and 31 assists for 42 points, which ranks him tied for sixth in the AHL in defensemen scoring. Stafford has played in two NHL games in his career going scoreless.

.)  One to watch for: Scottie Upshall, traded to Phoenix from Philadelphia at this year’s trade deadline, has been a better, more effective player on his new team. Upshall has played in 67 games this season, recording 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points. The right wing has been with Phoenix for 12 games, lighting the lamp three times and assisting on four goals for seven points. He has posted two power-play goals since joining Phoenix. In six career games played against the Stars, Upshall has recorded two goals and no assists.
