StarPoints For 3/16 vs San Jose

1.)  The Stars and Sharks are meeting for the fourth time this season and second time at American Airlines Center. Dallas leads the season series 2-1, picking up both wins in the shootout in San Jose.  The Stars are 49-33-10 against the Sharks all time. The teams will face off March 25 in San Jose and will return to Dallas March 31 for the final meeting of the season. In the three games thus far, Dallas has not surrendered a power play goal to the Sharks, one of the best teams with the man-advantage. The Stars have killed off all five penalties they have taken.
2.)  The Stars will be without Mike Modano, the club’s all-time leading scorer against the Sharks, tonight. Modano underwent appendectomy surgery Monday and will be out of action indefinitely. In 80 career games against the Sharks, Modano has scored 24 goals and recorded 48 assists for 72 points. He has tallied a goal and an assist in the three games against San Jose this year.

3.)  Right wing Brandon Segal continued his strong play for the Stars in Dallas’ 5-3 loss on Sunday. He tallied two goals, fired off six shots and even had a fight in just under 13 minutes of ice time. It was the first multi-goal game of his career. Segal in has been huge for the Stars since the team claimed him off waivers Feb. 11. In his six appearances for Dallas, he has recorded three multi-point games, collecting six points (4g, 2a).
4.)  Mike Ribeiro has tallied 21 points (8g, 13a) in 30 career meetings against the Sharks, including a goal in this season’s series. With his assist in Sunday’s loss, Ribeiro has now 10 points (5g, 5a) in his last 10 games since returning from a throat injury. Brad Richards has collected a goal and an assist this season against San Jose, for a total of 12 points in just 16 games. He has registered seven points (1g, 6a) in his last seven games.
5.)  One to watch for:  Dany Heatley been among league leaders in scoring this season with 72 points (36g, 36a) through the first 68 games. He has been especially difficult for the Dallas defense this year, having recorded five points (2g, 3a) in the three games in the season series. Heatley has 11 points (3g, 8a) in 10 career games against the Stars..
