.)  Tonight’s match-up marks the first and only meeting between the Dallas Stars and the Atlanta Thrashers this season. Since joining the NHL in 1999, the Thrashers have only met the Stars in 10 games, with Dallas cruising to a 9-1-0 record all-time against the club. Marty Turco has been perfect against Atlanta, enjoying a 5-0-0 record with a 1.60 GAA.
.)  Mike Ribeiro is coming off an impressive performance scoring the game-winning goal and posting his first career hat trick in the Stars’ last game, Jan. 21 at Florida. He is currently tied with Brad Richards for first on the team in points with 39 (11g, 28a). Ribeiro’s hat trick was the fifth of the season for the Stars, which ties the season record set in the 1997-98 season.
.)  Brad Richards has scored more points against the Atlanta Thrashers in his career than any other team he has faced in the NHL. In 43 games he has recorded 17 goals and 34 assists for 51 points placing him fourth for all-time points against Atlanta by a single player. Richards played all 43 games against Thrashers in a Tampa Bay uniform and tonight’s match-up will mark his first game against the club as a member of the Dallas Stars.
.)  The Dallas Stars have played well throughout their history against teams currently in the Southeast Division, posting a 108-64-31 record all-time and a 56-23-12 record since the Stars moved to Dallas. The Southeast Division was formed in the 1998-99 season and the Stars continued to execute well against the teams holding an impressive 37-15-7 record all-time against the newly formed division. Dallas won the first eight meetings against Atlanta holding the Thrashers to two goals or less in seven of those victories.
.)  One to watch for: Ilya Kovalchuk currently leads the Atlanta Thrashers in points this season, which comes at no surprise considering he has led the club in points three out of the past four seasons. Going into the All-Star break he has recorded 20 goals and 29 assists for 49 points good for 14th on the NHL scoring list. Dallas has held the Tver, Russia native to two assists in seven games and the Stars will look to shutdown this high scoring left wing again tonight.
