FIVE THINGS TO WATCH:

1. The Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild meet for their first of four contests on Saturday night. The Stars went 3-1-0 against the Wild last season, outscoring them 15-8 in the series. They also killed off 9-of-10 Wild power plays (90%) and converted on 4-of-18 power plays (22.2%).

Dallas has won six of their last seven games against Minnesota, earning a 6-1-0 record in thatspan. They have outscored the Wild 11-5 in the last three games and have earned shutouts in two of those contests.

Saturday’s game between the Stars and Wild features two of the top-three winningest Finnish-born goaltenders in NHL history. Niklas Backstrom (MIN) is second with 153 wins, while Kari Lehtonen (DAL) is third with 150 wins. Mikka Kiprusoff is the winningest Finnish-born goalie with 297 victories.

The Dallas Stars are one of five NHL clubs and the only Pacific Division team that is undefeated this season when leading after two periods (12-0-0 record.). In fact, the Stars have not lost a game in regulation when up after two since Oct. 31, 2009 (vs. NSH). Since then, they have a 53-0-5 record.

Dallas will play their eighth set of back-to-back games on Friday (Tampa Bay) and Saturday (Minnesota). The Stars have a 3-3-1 record on the first day and a 0-6-1 record on the second day of a back-to-back.


WHO TO WATCH:

LOUI ERIKSSON
has points in three consecutive games against the Wild (0-5-5) and has earned points in 11 of his last 13 games against them (4-15-19). Eriksson is looking to score his first goal against Minnesota since Jan. 18, 2010.
 
ERIC NYSTROM
is making his first trip to Minnesota since being traded for futureconsiderations on Oct. 12, 2011. Nystrom scored four goals and eight assists in 82 games for the Wild last season. With the Stars in 2011-12, he has logged 13 goals and three assists (16 points) in 40 games.
 
ALEX GOLIGOSKI
scored Dallas’ final goal of the season in 2010-11 (at Minnesota) and the first of the 2011-12 campaign (vs. Chicago). Goligoski is from Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
