FIVE THINGS TO WATCH:

1. The Dallas Stars meet for their first and only contest of the season against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night. This will be Dallas’ first game against them since Oct. 18, 2010 (4-5 L), and their first at home since Nov. 28, 2009 (4-3 W, OT).

Dallas has an all-time record of 19-7-3 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. It’s the third-best record they have against any opponent in club history by points percentage (#1 Winnipeg Jets, #2 Columbus Blue Jackets) and the second best against any Eastern Conference foe. Friday’s game will be the 30th between these two clubs. The only teams Dallas has seen less often are the Ottawa Senators (26 GP), Florida Panthers (25 GP) and the Winnipeg Jets (formerly the Atlanta Thrashers, 13 GP).

The Stars have a 7-5-1 record against Eastern Conference teams this season and a 2-1-0 record against clubs from the Southeast Division.

The Dallas Stars are one of five NHL clubs and the only Pacific Division team that is undefeated this season when leading after two periods (12-0-0 record.). in fact, the Stars have not lost a game in regulation when up after two since Oct. 31, 2009 (vs. NSH). Since then, they have a 53-0-5 record.

Dallas will play their seventh set of back-to-back games on Friday (Tampa Bay) and Saturday (Minnesota). The Stars have a 3-3-1 record on the first day and a 0-6-1 record on the second day of a back-to-back.

RADEK DVORAK
has more points against the Tampa Bay Lightning than any other NHL club in his career (10 goals, 22 assists).

VERNON FIDDLER
has never earned an assist against the Tampa Bay Lightning – one of six clubs he has never had a helper against (all Eastern Conference teams).

ALEX GOLIGOSKI
earned a career-high four points the last time he played against the Tampa Bay Lightning (1 goal, 3 assists). He has two goals and four assists with a +6 rating in his last two games against them.
