Tyler Seguin’s goal scoring drought came to an end Monday night. Seguin who had gone 12 games without a goal scored twice in the Stars’ 4-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche at American Airlines Center.
“It felt good. I felt like I got a monkey off my back for sure getting that goal,” said Seguin, who also had an assist in the game. “I’ve been thinking about it, but not as much as of late because we’ve been winning games and I’ve been getting assists and creating things.”
Seguin scored off a one-timer with the Stars on a four-on-three power play to tie the game at 2-2 early in the second period. He scored off the rush late in the second to tie the game 3-3 just 16 seconds after Colorado had taken the lead.
“If the opportunities are there, it’s going to go,” Ruff said. “I thought Jamie [Benn] made a heck of a pass and it was a heck of a shot to score four-on-three. At that time it was a big goal, then he answered their third goal which was another big goal for us. “
Seguin ended the night with two goals, one assist and five shots on goal.
“On Tyler’s line, I thought Jamie had a great night, Tyler really skated well and had a great night and Val [Nichushkin] was in on some opportunities,” said Ruff.

“I think we just woke up a little bit. The last few games we came out flying. They got the quick first one and the crowd kind of got out of it. We weren’t ready to play, just a little sluggish. We snapped out of it and I thought we outworked them, outskated them, outchanced them and then one of those shots gets thrown out front and it goes in off a skate. Those are tough.”
