Stars center Tyler Seguin, who has missed the last two games with concussion-like symptoms, took part in this morning’s skate in Toronto, centered a line with Jamie Benn and Rich Peverley on the wings, but remains a game-time decision for tonight’s tilt against the Maple Leafs.
Seguin still has to undergo testing before he can get cleared to play, but Stars coach Lindy Ruff sounded optimistic his No. 1 center could return.
“I’ve guessed on these situations a lot of times before, and it’s encouraging that he felt good yesterday and he felt good today,” Ruff said. “He gets through the rest of the day and we’ll see where he is tonight.”
Stars forward Ryan Garbutt, who took a puck off his lower leg in Tuesday’s 4-3 victory at Chicago, didn’t skate this morning, so he is out for tonight’s game.
On defense, Jordie Benn could be the odd man out tonight based on the pairings during the morning skate. That would mean that both Jamie Oleksiak and Kevin Connauton would play.
Kari Lehtonen was the first goaltender off the ice for the Stars, so he is expected to get the nod in net tonight.
