Colton Sceviour and Chris Mueller, called up from the Texas Stars due to Rich Peverley and Alex Chiasson being out for Tuesday’s game in St. Louis, both had solid performances in Dallas’ 3-2 overtime win for the Blues.
Sceviour scored on the power play late in the first period to tie the game 1-1, knocking home the rebound of an Alex Goligoski shot. It was the fourth goal in nine games with Dallas for Sceviour, the AHL’s top goal scorer.
“He’s a hard guy not to like because he’s got quick hands around the front of the net and it seems like every game he’s in on a great opportunity or he’s making a difference,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff.
Sceviour played right wing on a line with center Cody Eakin and left wing Erik Cole. He played 17:27, had two shots on goal and won one of two faceoffs.
Mueller played 10:27 on a line with center Vernon Fiddler and left wing Antoine Roussel. He had two shots on goal and won three of five faceoffs. He almost won the game in regulation for the Stars, but his close range bid was turned away by Blues goaltender Ryan Miller with 2:16 remaining.
“I thought he was good too,” Ruff said “A couple times took a licking in the physical department, but he had a chance to win the game and I thought Ryan (Miller) made a hell of a save to keep it tied with about two minutes left in the game.”
