The Dallas Stars rallied from 2-0 and 4-2 deficits to beat the San Jose Sharks 5-4 in a shootout Sunday afternoon in San Jose. The win was the second straight for the Stars, who pulled to within four points of eighth place in the Western Conference. Alex Chiasson scored two goals and Eric Nystrom and Loui Eriksson also scored. Jamie Benn had two assists and the lone goal in the shootout. Kari Lehtonen stopped 32 of 36 shots in regulation and overtime, and was 3-3 in the shootout.
Stars show some resiliency
The Stars were down 4-2 entering the third period, but goals from Alex Chiasson and Loui Eriksson tied the game and forced extra time, allowing the Stars to win in the shootout. It was just the second time this season that the Stars have rallied to win a game when trailing after two periods. The Stars are now 2-12-0 when trailing after 40 minutes this season. The Stars also won for just the fourth time in 17 games when surrendering the first goal of the game. They are now 4-12-1 when their opponent scores first.
