The Dallas Stars continued their push for a playoff spot, running their winning streak to four games with a 5-2 win at Nashville Friday night. The Stars scored two goals on their first three shots to take a 2-0 lead and never looked back. Alex Chiasson scored two goals and Erik Cole, Ray Whitney and Tom Wandell also scored for the Stars, who improved to 20-17-3 on the season. Richard Bachman stopped 26 of 28 shots.
Stars make most of opportunities
The Stars made the most of their opportunities in Friday’s game. The Stars had just 11 shots through the first two periods, but scored on four of them. They scored on two of their first three shots of the game to take a 2-0 lead by the 8:40 mark of the first period. The Stars ended up scoring five times on 18 shots.
Chiasson continues to produce
Five games into his NHL career, Alex Chiasson is a goal-a-game guy. Chiasson scored two more goals Friday night, giving him five goals in five games since being called up from the Texas Stars of the AHL following the NHL trade deadline.
Bachman solid again
Stars goaltender Richard Bachman turned in another solid performance, stopping 26 of 28 shots. Bachman, filling in for an injured Kari Lehtonen, has stopped 48 of 50 shots over the last two games.
