The Dallas Stars bounced back from Saturday night’s embarrassing loss to Chicago with a 4-3 victory over the Calgary Flames at American Airlines Center Monday night. The victory snapped a four-game winless streak for the Stars. Loui Eriksson scored two goals and Erik Cole and Erik Nystrom also tallied for the Stars. Ray Whitney had two assists. Kari Lehtonen stopped 16 of 19 shots to pick up the victory in net.
Strong start key for Stars
The Stars got off to a strong start Monday, outscoring the Flames 3-0 over the first 20 minutes. The Stars, who outshot the Flames 12-5 in the period, got three goals in a 5:04 span from Erik Cole, Eric Nystrom and Loui Eriksson. Calgary didn’t register a shot for the first 8:05 of the game and their first shot came 1:50 into their first power play of the game.
Stars back to .500 at home
Monday’s win snapped the Stars three-game winless streak at home and pushed them back to the .500 mark at American Airlines Center (6-6-2). It was the Stars’ first home win since March 3, when the defeated St. Louis at the AAC.
