The Dallas Stars made it three straight wins, defeating the Anaheim Ducks, 3-1, at American Airlines Center Friday night. Trevor Daley, Jamie Benn and Loui Eriksson scored goals for the Stars. Kari Lehtonen stopped 20 of 21 shots for Dallas, which improved to 6-5-1 overall and 3-1-1 at home. Anaheim had a four-game winning streak snapped and fell to 7-2-1 on the season.
A tale of two periods
The Stars played probably their best period of the season, outshooting the Ducks, 16-7, and scoring two power play goals in the first period to take a 2-0 lead in the game. The second period was a much different story. The Stars got into some penalty trouble, the Ducks got some momentum and cut into the lead with goal late in the second to make it a 2-1 game heading into the third.
Stars clamp it down the third period
The Stars didn’t give the Ducks much in the third period, allowing Anaheim just one shot on goal. The Stars extended their lead to 3-1 in the game when Loui Eriksson scored from the right circle with 7:14 left.
