Kari Lehtonen was brilliant in net Thursday night, stopping 40 shots as the Dallas Stars defeated the Los Angeles Kings, 2-0, at Staples Center Thursday night. Jaromir Jagr and Ray Whitney scored third period goals for the Stars, who won the game despite being outshot 40-21. The win gave the Stars a 14-13-3 mark on the season.
Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen was superb in Thursday night. He made 40 saves, many of them quality ones, as he registered his first shutout of the season and 22nd of his career. He was particularly sharp in the first two periods, when the Kings dominated play and outshot the Stars 30-15.
Stars finding success in Los Angeles
The Kings have lost just three times in regulation at home this season, and two of them have come at the hands of the Stars. Dallas has won four straight at Staples Center. The Stars are 12-4-6 in their last 22 games in Los Angeles.
