by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

In the final installment of prospect updates, a brief look at several players. This year’s draft picks were not included nor were some of the goaltending prospects. They were covered in separate posts earlier this summer. Links to those are provided below.

Note: Prospects are listed with the team they are expected to play for in 2013-14.

Alex Guptill, LW, University of Michigan (3rd round/2010)

Guptill got off to a slow start last season, was scratched for a couple of games by head coach Red Berenson, but finally got going and finished strong for the Wolverines in his sophomore season. He registered 25 points (12 goals, 13 assists) over his final 20 games and ended up leading Michigan in scoring with 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) in 38 contests. Guptill, who is listed at 6-3, 191 pounds, possesses speed and a nice scoring touch. The Ontario native will return to Michigan for a third season.
