Here’s an update on how Dallas Stars prospects playing in Europe, juniors and colleges fared over the past week.


*LW Roope Hintz (second round/2015) assisted on the game-tying goal as HIFK rallied for a 2-1 victory Monday to take its first-round playoff series over the Lahti Pelicans in six games. Hintz had the primary assist 7:13 into the third period as HIFK tied the game 1-1. HIFK then scored the game-winner with 12 seconds remaining in regulation to take the series, 4-2. Hintz registered 3 assists in 6 games. HIFK’s second-round opponent is to be determined.

*D Miro Karjalainen (fifth round/2014) picked up two assists in four games as Kiekko-Vantaa rallied from a 3-0 series deficit to force a seventh game in its first-round series in Finland’s second highest league. K-Vantaa lost the seventh game to Jukurit, 2-1, in overtime. Karjalainen had two assists in seven games.

*D Aleksi Makela (seventh round/2013) had no points in two games for Ilves in Finland’s junior playoffs. Ilves is tied 1-1 in its best-of-three series. Makela has no points in four games in the postseason.

*D Niklas Hansson (third round/2013) signed a three-year entry-level contract with Dallas last week after his season with HV 71 in the Swedish Hockey League came to an end. HV 71 was swept, 4-0, by Skelleftea in the quarterfinals of the SHL playoffs. Hansson is expected to join the Texas Stars of the AHL on an amateur tryout contract this week. Hansson registered 22 points (7 goals, 15 assists) in 44 regular season games with HV 71, tying for eighth among SHL defensemen in goals and 12th in points. He had no points in six playoff games.


*D Joseph Cecconi (fifth round/2015) had his season come to an end as Michigan lost out going to the Frozen Four over the weekend. Michigan defeated Notre Dame, 3-2 in overtime, in the Midwest Regional semifinal but then lost 5-2 to North Dakota in the final. Cecconi had no points in the two games and finished his freshman season with 7 assists in 38 games.


*D Aaron Haydon (sixth round/2014) did not register any points in two games as Niagara took a 2-0 lead in its first-round series against Ottawa in the Ontario Hockey League Playoffs.

*D Chris Martenet (fourth round/2015) had no points as the London Knights split the first two games of their playoff series with Owen Sound.

*D Patrick Sanvido (seventh round/2014) registered one assist in two games for Windsor in the OHL playoffs. Windsor trails Kitchener 2-0 in the first round series.


*RW Denis Gurianov (first round/2015) registered 5 points (4 goals, 1 assist) in 47 games with Lada Togliatti in the KHL. Recorded 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists) in 7 games in Russian juniors.

*D Michael Prapavessis (fourth round/2014) registered 18 points (4 goals, 14 assists) in 40 games with RPI in college hockey, leading the team in defenseman scoring.

*D Troy Vance (fifth round/2011) registered 19 points (3 goals, 16 assists) in 59 games with Assat in Finland’s top league.

*G Markus Ruusu (sixth round/2015) had a 3.09 goals-against average and .900 save percentage with JYP-Akatemia in Finland’s second highest league. Posted a 3.99 goals-against average and .886 save percentage with JYP in Finnish juniors.

*G Henri Kiviaho (fifth round/2012) posted a 2.76 goals-against average and .903 save percentage in Finland’s top league. Had a 3.28 goals-against average and .889 save percentage with LeKi in Finland’s second highest league.

*D John Nyberg (sixth round/2014) Registered 9 points (1 goal, 8 assists) with Oskarshamn in Sweden’s second highest league. Played 6 games with Frolunda in the Swedish Hockey League, registering no points. Had no points in 5 playoff games in the second highest league and 3 assists in 3 playoff games for Frolunda in junior playoffs.

*D Alex Peters (third round/2014) recorded 12 points (1 goal, 11 assists) in 55 games with Flint of the Ontario Hockey League.

*G Brent Moran (fourth round/2014) played for both Niagara and Flint in the Ontario Hockey League, posting a 13-25-4 record, 3.86 goals-against average and .881 save percentage.
