Here are updates on how Dallas Stars prospects playing in Europe, juniors and colleges fared over the past week.


The Hockey News has released its latest NHL prospect rankings, and three of Dallas’ European prospects made the team’s top ten list.

Russian forward Denis Gurianov (first round/2015) was ranked second among Dallas prospects and 34th among all NHL prospects. Finnish forward Roope Hintz was ranked eighth among Dallas prospects and Swedish defenseman Niklas Hansson ranked tenth.

Texas Stars defenseman Julius Honka was the No. 1 Dallas prospect and ranked 20th among all NHL prospects. Texas forward Jason Dickinson ranked third among Stars prospects and 68th among all in the NHL.

The rest of the Dallas rankings included (4) Brett Ritchie, (5) Radek Faksa, (6) Esa Lindell) and (7) Devin Shore.

Forward Brett Pollock, who plays in the Western Hockey League and was traded to Calgary last week in the Kris Russell deal, was ranked ninth.


*D Michael Prapavessis (fourth round/2014) registered 3 points (one goal, two assists) as RPI won two games against Brown this past weekend. Prapavessis had one goal and one assist in a 3-2 win on Friday and then one assist in a 4-3 victory on Saturday. Prapavessis, a sophomore, has 18 points (4 goals, 14 assists) in 38 games and is tied for fifth among ECAC defensemen in scoring.

*D Joseph Cecconi (fifth round/2015) had no points in two games for Michigan. Cecconi, a freshman, has 7 assists and a plus-13 rating in 32 games.


*RW Denis Gurianov (first round/2015) has completed his season in both the KHL and MHL (Russian juniors). He registered 5 points (4 goals, 1 assist) in 47 games in the KHL. He tallied 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists) in 7 games in the MHL.

*LW Roope Hintz (second round/2015) had no points in three games for HIFK in Finland’s top league. Hintz has registered 15 points (4 goals, 11 assist) in 31 games.

*D Aleksi Makela (seventh round/2013) picked up his second assist of the season for Ilves in Finland’s top league. Makela has 2 assists in 40 games this season.

*D Troy Vance (fifth round/2011) had no points in three games for Assat in Finland’s top league. Vance has 19 points (3 goals, 16 assists) in 57 games this season.

*D Miro Karjalainen (fifth round/2014) had no points in two games with Kiekko-Vantaa in Finland’s second highest league. Karjalainen has no points in seven games since being loaned to K-Vantaa.

*G Markus Ruusu (sixth round/2015) played one game for JYP-Akatemia in Finland’s second highest league, stopping 26 of 31 shots in a 6-3 loss. Ruusu has a 3.09 goals-against average and .900 save percentage in 20 games with JYP-Akatemia this season.

*G Henri Kiviaho (fifth round/2012) played three games for Ilves in Finland’s top league, posting an 0-1-1 record and stopping 56 of 67 shots. Kiviaho has a 2.75 goals-against average and .905 save percentage in 18 appearances with Ilves.

*D Niklas Hansson (third round/2013) did not register any points in three games with HV 71 in the Swedish Hockey League. Hansson has 22 points (7 goals, 15 assists) in 43 games and is averaging 19:14 of ice time.

*D John Nyberg (sixth round/2014) had no points in three games for Oskarshamn in a postseason qualification series. Oskarshamn lost the final game in a shootout.


*D Chris Martenet (fourth round/2015) had no points and a plus-two rating in three games for London. Martenet has 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists) in 61 games and ranks fourth in the OHL with a plus-43 rating.

*D Aaron Haydon (sixth round/2014) picked up one assist in four games for Niagara over the past week, giving him 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists) in 60 games.

*D Patrick Sanvido (seventh round/2014) did not register any points in three games for Windsor. Sanvido has 8 points (1 goal, 7 assists) in 44 games.

*D Alex Peters (third round/2014) had no points in three games for Flint. Peters has 11 points (1 goal, 10 assists) in 52 games.

*G Brent Moran (fourth round/2014) played three games for Flint over the past week, posting a 1-1-0 record.
