Stars forward prospect Brett Pollock is on a roll in the WHL and goaltending prospect Brent Moran has put together a nice run in the OHL. Plus, two of Dallas’ injured defense prospects returned this past week in juniors. Here is the latest on Stars prospects playing in juniors, college and Europe.
*LW Brett Pollock (second round/2014) racked up seven points (one goal, six assists) in three games for Edmonton over the past week. Pollock registered one goal and two assists in a 6-4 win over Regina on Wednesday and then recorded three assists in a 5-1 win over Prince Albert on Friday. Pollock has points in ten of his past 12 games, registering six goals and 11 assists during that stretch. He has 31 points (ten goals, 21 assists) in 28 games and is tied for the team lead in scoring. His plus-14 rating is tied for seventh in the WHL.
*D Patrick Sanvido (seventh round/2014) returned to the Windsor Spitfires lineup after missing seven weeks with a knee injury. And he made an impact, picking up one goal, one assist and a plus-five rating in three games. Sanvido has five points (one goal, four assists) in eight games.
*D Alex Peters (third round/2014) returned for the Flint Firebirds Saturday after missing four weeks with an undisclosed injury. Peters, who had no points in the game, has one goal and two assists in 15 games this season for the Firebirds.
*G Brent Moran (fourth round/2014) won two of three starts over the past week for Niagara. Moran is 6-1-1 in his past eight starts with a 2.09 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. He is 8-6-1 on the season with a 3.01 goals-against average and .889 save percentage.
*D Aaron Haydon (sixth round/2014) did not register any points in three games for Niagara over the past week. Haydon has four points (one goal, three assists) in 23 games.
*D Chris Martenet (fourth round/2015) did not record any points in three games for London over the past week. Martenet has six assists in 24 games.
*D Michael Prapavessis (fourth round/2014) picked up four assists in three games for RPI over the past week. Three of those assists came in a 4-1 win over Western Michigan on Friday. Prapavessis, a sophomore, has nine points (one goal, eight assists) in 12 games. He leads the team in assists and is tied for second in points.
*D Joseph Cecconi (fifth round/2015) picked up one assist in two games over the past week, giving the freshman blue liner two assists in nine games for the University of Michigan.
*LW Roope Hintz (second round/2015) scored his first goal of the season, tallying in HIFK’s 4-3 win over Vaasan Sport in Finland’s top league on Wednesday. Hintz, who also had an assist over the past week, now has six points (one goal, five assists) in 11 games.
*D Aleksi Makela (seventh round/2013) had no points in three games for Ilves in Finland’s top league. Makela has one assist in 15 games.
*D Troy Vance (fifth round/2011) picked up two assists in three games, giving him eight assists in 28 games for Assat in Finland’s top league. Vance is leading the league in average ice time at 24:39 per game.
*D Miro Karjalainen (fifth round/2014) did not pick up any points in two games for HIFK in Finnish juniors over the past week. Karjalainen has six points (one goal, five assists) in 11 games.
*G Markus Ruusu (sixth round/2015) started one game last week, stopping 18 of 21 shots in a 3-1 loss for JYP-Akatemia in Finland’s second highest league.
*G Henri Kiviaho (fifth round/2012) did not play over the past week.
*RW Denis Gurianov (first round/2015) did not register any points in three games over the past week in the KHL. Gurianov has three points (two goals, one assist) in 27 games for Lada Togliatti.
*D John Nyberg (sixth round/2014) had no points in three games in Sweden’s second highest league. Nyberg has five points (one goal, four assists) in 27 games.
*D Niklas Hansson (third round/2013) remains out with a shoulder injury.
