Prospect Report

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

Stars prospects Remi Elie and Philippe Desrosiers moved onto the league championship series in junior hockey. And Matej Paulovic’s USHL team is one win away from going to the Clark Cup Final. Here is the latest on Dallas Stars prospects still involved in postseason play.

Ontario Hockey League

*LW Remi Elie (second round/2013) registered three assists as Erie advanced to the OHL championship series with a 7-3 win over Sault Ste. Marie Saturday night.

Elie has played recently on Erie’s top line with Connor McDavid, who is expected to go first overall in the NHL Draft next month. Elie has registered points in 12 of Erie’s 15 playoff games. He has 19 points (two goals, 17 assists) and is tied for fifth in OHL playoff scoring.

The Otters, who won the Western Conference Finals in six games, will take on Oshawa in the OHL championship series. The winner will represent the OHL at the Memorial Cup later this month.

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

*G Philippe Desrosiers (second round/2013) is headed to the QMJHL championship series after Rimouski swept Val-d'Or, 4-0, in the semifinals.

Desrosiers continues to play the role of backup to Louis-Philip Guindon, who has been spectacular in the playoffs with a 9-0 record, 1.12 goals-against average and .951 save percentage. Desrosiers has posted a 3-1 mark with a 2.49 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.

Rimouski will play Quebec in the championship series. With Quebec serving as the host team for this year’s Memorial Cup, Rimouski qualified for the Memorial Cup by making it to the QMJHL finals, which get underway Tuesday.

United States Hockey League

*RW Matej Paulovic (fifth round/2013) scored the game-winning goal as Muskegon defeated Dubuque 3-1 Friday to take a 2-1 series lead in the Clark Cup conference finals. Dubuque bounced back to win Saturday, forcing a fifth and deciding game Tuesday. The winner takes on Sioux Falls in the Clark Cup Final.

Paulovic has five points (one goal, four assists) in eight playoff games.
