Prospect Report

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

Stars defense prospect Esa Lindell is heading to the 2015 World Championship. Finland released its roster on Monday and Lindell, a third-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, was among the eight defensemen on the roster. Dallas defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka was on Finland’s roster as well.

Lindell, who turns 21 in May, is coming off a superb season in Finland’s top league, registering 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists) in 57 games. He tied for the scoring lead among all league defensemen and was the top scoring defensemen based on points per game. He led all players in the league in average ice time at 24:56 per game.

Lindell also played five games for the Texas Stars once his season in Finland ended, picking up one assist. He will play in North America next season.

The World Championship runs May 1-17 in Czech Republic.
