Prospect Report

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

Here’s an update on how Dallas Stars prospects playing in juniors, the European leagues and U.S. colleges fared over the past week.

U.S. College

*C Devin Shore (second round/2012) had his season come to an end as the University of Maine lost its first round best-of-three series with Vermont in the Hockey East Tournament. Shore had one goal in the three-game series, ending the season with 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists) in 39 games. Shore had an impressive showing in Game 3 against Vermont, scoring late in regulation to force overtime and putting up some impressive numbers. He had eight shots on goal, 11 attempted shots and won 14 of 24 faceoffs in the game. Shore, who is a junior, could be ready to give up his senior year and turn pro. But he has not made that decision yet.

“I see an NHL future,” Stars scout Mark Leach told the Portland Press Herald last month. “We’ve seen his game develop pretty well. I think he’s got a good shot. We’re letting him play out his year and we’ll talk after it’s over.”

*D Michael Prapavessis (fourth round/2014) had no points in three games as RPI defeated Clarkson in its first round series in the ECAC Tournament. RPI plays St. Lawrence in the quarterfinals. Prapavessis, a freshman, has eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 39 games.
