Dallas Stars forward prospects Jason Dickinson (first round/2013) and LW Nick Paul (fourth round/2013) will square off In the Finals of the Ontario Hockey League playoffs.
Paul notched three assists in two games last week as North Bay completed a four-game sweep of Oshawa in the Eastern Conference Final. Paul has 14 points (9 goals, 5 assists) in 17 games and is tied for fourth in playoff goal scoring in the OHL.
Dickinson had two assists in three games as Guelph finished off Erie in five games in the OHL’s Western Final. Dickinson has 19 points (5 goals, 14 assists) and is tied for sixth in points in the OHL playoffs. His plus-17 rating leads the league.
The best-of-seven series between Guelph and North Bay begins Thursday in Guelph.
*D Ludwig Bystrom (second round/2012) had his season end last week as Farjestad was swept by Skelleftea in the Swedish Hockey League championship series. Bystrom had no points in 10 playoff games for Farjestad.
*G Philippe Desrosiers (second round/2013), who signed a three-year entry level contract with the Dallas Stars after his season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League ended, has signed an amateur tryout contract with the Texas Stars.
“He’ll be the third goalie down there,” said Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill. “We want him to see what the pro game is like, what the pro shooters are like. It gives our goalie coach a chance to work with him down there, so that’s good.”
Desrosiers is expected to return to junior hockey next season.
