Here’s an update on Dallas Stars prospects still playing postseason hockey in juniors and Europe.
*C/LW Jason Dickinson (first round/2013) registered a goal and an assist as Guelph defeated London, 5-4, Friday to win its second round series in the Ontario Hockey League playoffs. Guelph, which won the series 4-1, plays Erie in the Western Conference Finals. Dickinson, who also had two assists in Guelph’s Game 4 victory over London, has 14 points (4 goals, 10 assists) and a plus-12 rating in 10 playoff games. Dickinson is tied for fifth in playoff scoring in the OHL and tied for first in plus/minus.
C/LW Gemel Smith (fourth round/2012) had his run in the OHL’s playoffs end with London’s loss to Guelph, but his season isn’t over. London is the host team for the Memorial Cup, so Smith and Knights still have some hockey to play but they’ll have a long layoff. Smith had 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists) in nine playoff games for the Knights.
*LW Nick Paul (fourth round/2013) registered one goal and one assist as North Bay defeated Barrie, 3-2, Sunday to win its second round OHL playoff series. North Bay, which won the series 4-2, plays Oshawa in the Eastern Conference Finals. Paul has 9 points (7 goals, 2 assists) in 13 playoff games and leads the Battalion in goal scoring.
*G Philippe Desrosiers (second round/2013) stopped 30 of 33 shots as Rimouski defeated Blainville-Boisbriand, 4-3, in overtime Friday to take a 3-2 series lead in the second round of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Playoffs. Desrosiers suffered his first two losses of the playoffs when Blainville-Boisbriand won games three and four of the series. Desrosiers is 7-2 with a 1.80 goals against average and .934 save percentage in the postseason. He ranks third in goals against average and second in save percentage in the playoffs.
*RW Branden Troock (fifth round/2012) had his season come to an end when Seattle was knocked out of the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs. Kelowna defeated Seattle 4-0 in the series. Troock finished the playoffs with 7 points (4 goals, 3 assists) in 9 games.
*D Ludwig Bystrom (second round/2012) is headed to the Swedish Hockey League championship series. Farjestad defeated Vaxjo 4-2 in the semifinals and will meet Skelleftea in the final series, which gets underway Monday. Bystrom has no points in eight playoff games.
*Neither LW Emil Molin (fourth round/2011) nor D Niklas Hansson (third round/2013) registered a point in Rogle’s final game in the Swedish Hockey League qualification round-robin series. Rogle finished third in the series, losing out advancing to the SHL based on goal differential. Molin finished the postseason with 9 points (3 goals, 6 assists) in 14 games. Hansson recorded 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) in 16 games.
*LW Matej Paulovic (fifth round/2013) is done for the season after Muskegon failed to qualify for the United States Hockey League playoffs. Paulovic finished the regular season with 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) in 29 games after joining the Lumberjack in late December.
