Here’s an update on Dallas Stars prospects who are still playing postseason hockey in juniors and Europe.
*G Philippe Desrosiers (second round/2013) did not allow a goal in two starts as Rimouski finished a sweep of Chicoutimi in the first round of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs. Desrosiers stopped 19 shots in a 3-0 win in game three of the series. He stopped 19 shots in two periods of play in game 4, and with Rimouski up 5-0 in the game he was given the third period off to rest. He was 4-0 in the first round series with a 1.09 goals against average and .944 save percentage.
*C/LW Jason Dickinson (first round/2013) registered six points (two goals, four assists) in three games as Guelph wrapped up its first round playoff series against Plymouth in the Ontario Hockey League, 4-1. Dickinson registered two goals and one assist and was the first star of the game as Guelph won game four of the series, 7-2. Dickinson had seven points (three goals, four assists) in the five-game series. Guelph plays London in the next round.
*C/LW Gemel Smith (fourth round/2012) registered three points (one goal, two assists) in two games as London completed a sweep of Windsor in the first round of the OHL playoffs. Smith had seven points (two goals, five assists) in the four games. Smith and London square off against Jason Dickinson and Guelph in round two.
*C Radek Faksa (first round/2012) had one goal in three games for Sudbury, which was eliminated by Barrie in the first round of the OHL playoffs, 4-1. Faksa ended up with three points (one goal, two assists) in five games.
*RW Cody Payne (trade acquisition/2013) recorded two goals and one assist in three games, but Saginaw was knocked out of the first round of the OHL playoffs in six games by Erie. Payne finished the playoffs with four points (three goals, one assist) in five games.
*LW Nick Paul (fourth round/2013) scored three goals in four games for North Bay in the OHL playoffs. Paul scored two goals, including the game-winner, as North Bay won game five, 4-3, to cut Niagara’s lead in the series 3-2. North Bay then won game six, forcing the seventh and deciding game, which will played Tuesday. Paul has four goals in six games during the series.
*RW Branden Troock (fifth round/2012) scored two goals as Seattle defeated Everett, 5-0, to clinch its first round playoff series in the Western Hockey League. Seattle, which won that series 4-1, plays Kelowna in the second round. Troock had five points (four goals, one assist) in five games.
*D Dmitry Sinitsyn (seventh round/2012) had no points in four games as Regina was swept by Brandon in the first round of the WHL playoffs.
*C Mike Winther (second round/2012) registered three assists in two games for Calgary in the WHL playoffs, but the Hitmen were eliminated by Kootenay in six games. Winther missed the last two games of the series after taking a hard hit in game four. He ended up with four assists in four games.
*D Troy Vance (fifth round/2011) scored one goal in two games last week, but Charlottetown lost both of them and was swept from the QMJHL playoffs by Halifax. Vance ended up with three points (one goal, two assists) in four playoff games.
*D John Klingberg (fifth round/2010) had his season in the Swedish Hockey League come to an end when Frolunda was knocked out of the first round of the playoffs in seven games by Linkopings. Klingberg had four assists in seven games and averaged a team-high 23:12 of ice time.
*D Ludwig Bystrom (second round/2012) is moving onto the second round of the SHL playoffs after Farjestad eliminated Brynas in five games in the first round. Bystrom had no points in three games for Farjestad, which plays Vaxjo in the second round.
*LW Emil Molin (fourth round/2011) registered three points (one goal, two assists) in three games for Rogle in the Swedish Hockey League qualification round-robin series. Molin has six points (three goals, three assists) in seven games during the series, which ends next week.
*D Niklas Hansson (third round/2013) had two assists in three games for Rogle in the SHL qualification series. Hansson has five points (one goal, four assists) in seven games.
*LW Matej Paulovic (fifth round/2013) is still playing regular season hockey. He picked up one goal and one assist in three games for Muskegon of the United States Hockey League. He has 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in 27 games for the Lumberjacks.
