Here are some notes on Dallas Stars prospects playing in juniors, Europe and college. Schedules were limited over the past week as the various leagues took breaks for the holidays.

*Three Dallas Stars prospects – C Radek Faksa (first round/2012), D Ludwig Bystrom (second round/2012) and D Esa Lindell (third round/2012) – took part in exhibition games leading up to the 2014 World Junior Championship. Faksa had no points in Czech Republic’s 3-2 loss to Switzerland on Friday. Bystrom had no points and a plus-one rating in two games for Sweden. Lindell scored a shorthanded goal, registered six shots and was a plus-one in two games for Finland. The World Junior Championship gets underway Thursday in Malmo, Sweden.

*G Philippe Desrosiers (second round/2013) registered his first shutout of the season, stopping 18 shots as Rimouski defeated Acadie-Bathurst, 4-0, this past week in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Desrosiers has won his last four starts, registering a 1.71 goals against average and .921 save percentage.

*G Maxime Lagace (free agent/2012) was back in action in the QMJHL after missing two months with a lower body injury. In his first game back, Lagace stopped 34 of 41 shots in Shawinigan’s 7-2 loss to Desrosiers and Rimouski. But in his second game back, Lagace posted a 32-save shutout as Shawinigan defeated Charlottetown, 2-0.

*D Troy Vance (fifth round/2011) had no points in two games for Charlottetown of the QMJHL. Vance has 13 points (3 goals, 10 assists) in 39 games.

*C Jason Dickinson (first round/2013) had one goal in one game for Guelph of the Ontario Hockey League. Dickinson has 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists) in 35 games.

*LW Remi Elie (second round/2013) picked up one goal and one assist in two games for Belleville of the OHL. Elie has 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists) in 27 games with Belleville.

*C Gemel Smith (fourth round/2012) had one assist in one game. Smith has 39 points (23 goals, 16 assists) in 35 games with Owen Sound of the OHL and is tied for eighth in the league in goal scoring.

*C Nick Paul (fourth round/2013) had one goal in one game for North Bay of the OHL. Paul has 21 points (13 goals, 8 assists) in 35 games.

*RW Cody Payne (trade acquisition/2013) did not play last week. He is currently serving a three-game suspension in the OHL. He’ll be eligible to return on Dec. 29.

*RW Branden Troock (fifth round/2012) notched two goals, one assist and plus-four rating, and was the first star of the game in Seattle’s 5-2 win over Tri-City on Tuesday in the Western Hockey League. Troock has 20 points (11 goals, 9 assists) over his last ten games. He is tied for the team lead with 40 points (17 goals, 23 assists) in 35 games this season.

*LW Cole Ully (fifth round/2013) scored one goal in one game for Kamloops of the WHL last week, giving him 38 points (15 goals, 23 assists) in 34 games.

*D Dmitry Sinitsyn (seventh round/2012) registered one assist in one game for Regina of the WHL, giving him 18 points (2 goals, 16 assists) in 34 games.

*C Mike Winther (second round/2012) remains out with an upper body injury. He is expected to miss two to four weeks.

*RW Matej Paulovic (fifth round/2013), who will start playing for Muskegon of the USHL later this month, was under consideration for Slovakia’s 2013 World Junior team, but he was not among the 28 players invited to that country’s final camp for the tournament.

*None of the Stars prospects playing in Europe played any league games over the past week. College players Alex Guptill (third round/2010) and Devin Shore (second round/2012) didn’t play as well.
