Riley Tufte continues to roll in the NCAA, registering one goal, one assist for Minnesota Duluth

Stars forward prospect Riley Tufte had another good weekend for the University of Minnesota Duluth, registering one goal and one assist Friday night as the Bulldogs defeated Minnesota, 3-2, in the opening game of the North Star College Cup, a tournament featuring four schools within the state of Minnesota. 

Tufte scored to tie the game 1-1 with 1:09 left in the first period, picking off a pass in the Minnesota zone and tallying off a shot from the right circle. He set up a breakaway goal in the third that gave UMD a 3-1 lead. He had no points and four shots on goal as UMD defeated St. Cloud State, 2-1, in overtime to win the North Star College Cup on Saturday.

Tufte, the Stars first round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, has registered seven points (five goals, two assists) in his past six games. Earlier in the week, Tufte was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's Offensive Player of the Week, after registering four points (three goals, one assist) the weekend of Jan. 20-21.

Tufte, a freshman, has eight points (five goals, three assists) and a plus-seven rating in 22 games.

*LW Roope Hintz (2nd round/2015) scored one goal in three games over the past week for HIFK in Finland's top league, giving him seven goals in his past 15 games. Hintz has 16 points (nine goals, seven assists) and a plus-nine rating in 31 games this season.

*G Markus Ruusu (6th round/2015) made one start for JYP-Akatemia in Finland's second league, stopping 35 of 38 shots in a 3-0 loss. Ruusu is 6-10-2 in the second league with a 3.79 goals-against average and .872 save percentage.

*D John Nyberg (6th round/2014) recorded one assist and a plus-three rating in three games for Frolunda in the SHL, giving him eleven points (four goals, seven assists) and a plus-ten rating in 36 games.

*RW Nick Caamano (5th round/2016) scored two goals and was the was the first star of the game as Flint defeated Hamilton, 4-3, on Saturday. Caamano, who has scored five goals in his past five games, has registered 46 points (23 goals, 23 assists) in 47 games and ranks third on the Firebirds in points.

*D Chris Martenet (4th round/2015) scored his first goal for Ottawa, tallying the lone goal in a 6-1 loss to Mississauga. Martenet has recorded one goal and one assist in nine games since being acquired by Ottawa within the OHL earlier this month. He has eight points (two goals, six assists) in 36 games with both Ottawa and London this season.

*G Colton Point (5th round/2016) stopped all 18 shots he faced in two periods of relief work in Colgate's 3-1 loss to Harvard on Saturday. Point, a freshman, did not get a decision in the game. He is 1-3-1 this season with a 2.83 goals-against average and .907 save percentage.

*D Joseph Cecconi (5th round/2015) did not register any points in two games for the University of Michigan over the weekend. Cecconi, a sophomore, has two assists in 20 games.
