Prospect Report: Honka, Makela Named to Finland's Preliminary Roster for World Juniors

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

Two more Dallas Stars prospects are in the mix to play at the 2015 World Junior Championship. Finland named Dallas defense prospects Julius Honka (first round/2014) and Aleksi Makela (seventh round/2013) to its preliminary roster for the tournament on Monday. Honka played on Finland’s team that won the gold medal last year and would be a lock for this time around. But Dallas has yet to decide if Honka, who is playing with the Texas Stars of the AHL, will go to the tournament.

Stars defense prospect Niklas Hansson (third round/2013) was considered a strong contender to play for Sweden at this year’s World Juniors, but he was left off that country’s preliminary roster, which was announced Monday.

Dallas forward prospects Jason Dickinson (first round/2013) and Remi Elie (second round/2013) were named to Canada’s World Juniors selection camp roster last week.

Countries participating in the tournament will name their final rosters later this month.
