Stars prospect Matej Paulovic and Slovakia are headed to the quarterfinals at the World Junior Championship. Slovakia defeated Germany, 5-2, Tuesday night in Montreal to clinch third place in Group A at the tournament.
Martin Reway registered a hat trick for the Slovaks, who jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and held off Germany the rest of the way.
Paulovic, who had been playing on Slovakia’s top line, was on the fourth line for Tuesday’s game. He had no points, one shot, an even rating and won three of six faceoffs.
Slovakia’s opponent in the quarterfinal round is still to be determined.
Honka practices, probable for Wednesday

Finland, the defending champion, needs a win to advance to the playoff round of the tournament.
Wednesday also features the showdown between the USA and Canada, which will be vying for the top spot in Group A.
