It looks as though the Dallas Stars will roll out the same lineup they used in Saturday’s victory in Winnipeg for tonight’s tilt against the Colorado Avalanche in Denver.
Tonight’s game is the first of a home-and-home series between the Stars and Avalanche. The two teams meet again Tuesday night at American Airlines Center. The Stars come into the back-to-back set eight points behind the Avalanche, who are third in the Central Division and seventh in the Western Conference.
“Given where they are and given where we are, whoever wins tonight, tomorrow is going to be pivotal,” said Stars center Shawn Horcoff.
“It’s fun. It becomes a little playoff series almost,” said Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog. “It’s fun and it’s a little different.”
Kari Lehtonen was the first goaltender off the ice for the Stars, so he is the expected starter in goal. Jordie Benn and Dustin Jeffrey are expected to be scratched tonight. It doesn’t appear Vernon Fiddler will play, so he’ll miss his third fourth game with an upper body injury.
Semyon Varlamov will start in goal for the Avalanche. Forward Alex Tanguay (hip/knee) and D Ryan Wilson (back) are out for the Avalanche.
