The Dallas Stars will be without forward Valeri Nichushkin for a while. The Stars announced Saturday evening that Nichushkin will undergo hip surgery and that he is expected to miss four months.
Nichushkin, who has played in only four games this season, has been bothered by a hip/groin issue since the beginning of training camp. He played the first two games of the season and then sat out the next nine because of the issue. He came back into the lineup and played two more, but has been out the past four games.
The 19-year-old is scheduled to undergo the surgery this coming week.
Nichushkin, Dallas’ first round pick (10th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft, is in his second NHL season. He has registered 34 points (14 goals, 20 assists) in 83 games.
