The Dallas Stars family is mourning the loss of Elizabeth Turgeon, daughter of former Stars player Pierre Turgeon.
Elizabeth Turgeon, 18, died in a car accident on Thursday near Vaughn, New Mexico, about 60 miles southeast of Santa Fe. Police said dense fog was a contributing factor in the crash.
"The Dallas Stars extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Pierre Turgeon, whose daughter Elizabeth was killed in a car accident yesterday,” said Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. “She is gone too young at the age of 18. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Turgeon family."
Elizabeth Turgeon was a player on many youth hockey teams, including several while the family lived in Dallas earlier this decade. She was a wonderful person and will be missed greatly.
Pierre Turgeon played with the Stars for three seasons, from 2001-2004. He retired from the NHL in 2007 after a 19-year career, during which he also played for the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche.
Please keep the Turgeons in your thoughts and prayers this holiday season.
