Dallas Stars left wing Brenden Morrow
and defenseman Stephane Robidas
were among 46 players who were invited by Hockey Canada on Thursday to Canada’s 2010 Olympic men’s hockey orientation camp from August 24-27 at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary. The orientation camp will assist in the preparation of Canada’s Olympic team that will compete at the XXI Olympic Winter Games, to be held from Feb. 12-28, 2010, in Vancouver, B.C.
The list of 46 players – five goaltenders, 16 defensemen and 25 forwards – boasts 40 players with senior international experience for Canada, either at the Olympics, World Championships or World Cup of Hockey. Additionally, 36 of the 46 players skated for either Canada’s National Junior Team or National Under-18 Team.
Morrow has skated for Team Canada on six occasions, including four World Championship tournaments (2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005). He was a member of Canada’s gold medal-winning club at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, and he led his country to a silver medal at the 1999 World Junior Championships.
Robidas represented Canada at the 2001 and 2006 World Championships.
Canada’s 2010 Olympic team will be guided by executive director Steve Yzerman; associate directors Doug Armstrong, Ken Holland and Kevin Lowe; head coach Mike Babcock; and associate coaches Ken Hitchcock, Jacques Lemaire and Lindy Ruff.
