Jason Spezza was selected second overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2001 NHL Draft. The Senators traded their captain to Dallas in July 2014.

Kari Lehtonen was selected second overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2002 NHL Draft. Lehtonen was traded to Dallas on Feb. 9, 2010.

Trevor Daley was selected 43rd overall by the Stars in the 2002 NHL Draft. The defenseman spent his first 11 professional seasons with the Stars.

The Stars selected Loui Eriksson 33rd overall in the 2003 NHL Draft. The winger spent seven seasons in Dallas before being traded to Boston.

Tyler Seguin was selected second overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2010 NHL Draft. Seguin was part of a multi-player trade that brought him to Dallas on July 4, 2013.

Stephen Johns was selected 60th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2010 NHL Draft. Chicago traded Johns, along with Patrick Sharp, to Dallas in 2015.

With their first-round pick in 2011, the Stars selected defenseman Jamie Oleksiak (14th overall).

The Stars selected Radek Faksa of the Kitchener Rangers with their first-round pick (13th overall) in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Two rounds later, Dallas selected defenseman Esa Lindell with their 74th overall pick.

Dallas had two first round picks in the 2013 NHL Draft. With the tenth overall pick, the Stars selected Valeri Nichushkin.

Julius Honka was selected 14th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft. Honka made his NHL debut in the 2016-17 season against the Minnesota Wild.

The Stars selected forward Denis Gurianov with their 12th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. The forward made his NHL debut on April 8, 2017 against the Colorado Avalanche.
The 2017 NHL Draft will be held in Chicago on Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24. The Stars hold eight picks in this year's draft, including two first round selections.
