The Dallas Stars put Kari Lehtonen on injured reserve today retroactive to February 15. That means he’ll miss today’s game against Calgary and Thursday’s game against Vancouver. He would be eligible to come off injured reserve for Saturday’s game against San Jose, if he is ready to go.
For now the Stars are listing Lehtonen, who injured his groin in Friday’s game at Vancouver, as day-to-day.
“He is still day-to-day, lower body,” said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. “We looked at him today, and certainly he has had that injury before in Phoenix last year, but this one is not as severe.”
Richard Bachman will get the start in today’s game against the Calgary Flames (5 p.m. at American Airlines Center). Bachman got lit up last Wednesday in Calgary, surrendering six goals on 22 shots. He got off to a rough start after coming in for Lehtonen Friday in Vancouver, allowing three goals in the first half of the second period, but shut the door the rest of the way as the Stars rallied for a 4-3 victory.
