“Jussi has provided our team two consecutive productive seasons and we look for him to continue to grow his game with our club over the next two years,” said Armstrong. “We believe in his abilities to improve our hockey club and are happy to have him under contract for the next two seasons.”

Jokinen, 24, appeared in all 82 games last season with the Stars, posting 14 goals and 34 assists for 48 points. The Kalajoki, Finland, native ranked second on the Stars in plus/minus (+8) and fifth in points. He was also one of three players (also Stu Barnes and Niklas Hagman) to appear in every game last season.

The 5-11, 190-pound left wing has played two full seasons with the Stars, notching 55 points (17-38-55) during his rookie campaign in 2005-06. He has only missed one NHL game over his two seasons – Dec. 10, 2005 at Toronto. Over his career, he is now 15-for-25 (60.0%) in the shootout.

Over his international career, Jokinen has represented Finland at the 2006 Winter Olympics and the 2005 World Championships. At the 2006 Olympics, he helped Team Finland earn a Silver Medal, recording one goal and three assists for four points.
