The Dallas Stars and Normandy Homes announced today that Stars forward Jason Spezza has won the second segment of the Normandy Homes Three Stars of the Game voting for the 2016-17 season. Normandy Homes will donate $1,000 to the Dallas Stars Foundation on his behalf.
Spezza, 33, led the Stars in the Normandy Homes Three Stars of the Game voting with 16 total points during the second voting segment from Dec. 8 through Feb. 16. The forward earned three first star selections and one third star selection in the second segment. Dallas captain Jamie Bennalso logged 16 points in the second segment, but finished in second place as Spezza won the tiebreak of most first star selections recorded. Benn earned five second star selections and one third star selection over the 32-game segment. Goaltender Antti Niemi ranked third on the team with two first stars and one second star for a total of 13 points in the second segment.

Spezza currently shares third on the Stars with 24 assists so far this season, while he is tied for fourth on the squad with 32 points (8-24=32) in 47 games during the campaign. The Toronto, Ont. native is also tied for first on Dallas with two game-winning goals this season, while he has also registered one power play goal and one shorthanded goal. < /p>
The Normandy Homes Star of the Game standings are determined by the Stars player who earns the most points in the Normandy Homes Three Stars of the Game voting, which occurs after each regular-season game. A player receives five points for a first star selection, three points for a second star and one point for a third star. The Normandy Homes Three Stars of the Game are selected by members of the media in each home city.
Each year, Normandy Homes will make donations totaling $3,000 to the Dallas Stars Foundation on behalf of the winning Stars players. Over the course of the season there will be two segment winners and one overall winner, each having $1,000 donated in their name from Normandy Homes.
