Horcoff Doubtful Tonight vs. Coyotes

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

There could be some lineup changes for the Dallas Stars when they take on the Arizona Coyotes tonight at American Airlines Center.

Forward Shawn Horcoff did not skate this morning due to illness and is doubtful for tonight’s game.

“Just feeling sick, so we’ll see whether he’ll be available or not. Most likely out,” Stars coach Lindy Ruff said.

Ruff also indicated that another injury issue could lead the Stars to call up a player from the Texas Stars of the AHL for tonight’s game.

“We’ve got some issues with another player,” Ruff said. “We have to make a decision this afternoon whether we have to get another player up here or not.”

It’s not clear if that call up will come at forward or defense. Outside of Horcoff, everybody else was on the ice this morning. Travis Morin took Horcoff’s spot on the fourth line with Vernon Fiddler and Travis Moen.

All seven defensemen skated this morning, including Jordie Benn, who missed Tuesday’s practice. None of the defensemen skated late. Time will tell if there is a change there.

Kari Lehtonen was the first goaltender off the ice for the Stars this morning, so it appears he will make his 10th straight start.

The Stars come into tonight’s game with six wins in their last seven games overall and they are 6-2-1 in their last nine games at American Airlines Center.

Coyotes watch

Devan Dubnyk will get the start in goal for the Coyotes. Dubnyk has allowed just four goals during the Coyotes’ current three-game winning streak.

The Coyotes will be looking to string together four wins in a row for the first time this season.

“That’s what we’re looking at, just try to continue to play the way we have been,” said Coyotes coach Dave Tippett. “We’ve gotten solid goaltending. We’ve defended pretty well, kept chances and goals against down and have we’ve given ourselves a chance to win. So challenge coming in here with a team playing very well right now will be a good test for our team.”

Quote of the day

The quote of the day went to Stars coach Lindy Ruff. When it was pointed out by Stars play-by-play man Ralph Strangis that putting Travis Morin and Travis Moen on the same line was tough for a broadcaster, Ruff responded with this:

“As long as it doesn’t turn into Moron.”
