Hicks Sports Group Retain PR/Marketing Firm For Cedar Park Center and Deja Blue Arena

Grossman hired to create and book events for new Cedar Park
Center, for the Great Austin Market as well as the new Deja Blue Arena in Frisco

CEDAR PARK, TEX. – Hicks Sports Group announced today that it has retained Stephen Grossman of KeyComm Public Relations & Marketing, (www.KeyCommPR.com), a full-service boutique marketing and communications agency, to officially and exclusively book and create events for two of the Hicks Sports-Operated entertainment venues that are scheduled to open in 2009.

Stephen Grossman, head of KeyComm’s Sports, Entertainment and Event Marketing division will work with the Cedar Park Center (scheduled to open in Fall, 2009), as well as the newly expanded Deja Blue Arena at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco (scheduled to re-open with a larger capacity in late Spring, 2009). He will help secure high-profile events for the two venues, as well as creating and developing new events (from concerts to family shows to sporting events).

Grossman has extensive experience opening and booking new arenas. Prior to joining KeyComm, Mr. Grossman served as director of booking, marketing and event development for AT&T Center (home of the San Antonio Spurs), as well as Jobing.com Arena (home of the Phoenix Coyotes in Glendale, Ariz.).

About Cedar Park Center
Located just north of Austin, Tex., the new state-of-the-art Cedar Park Center is scheduled to open in Fall, 2009. The multi-use facility will include 6,800 seats available for hockey and 8,700 for concerts and other events. The Center will have 24 suites and 545 club seats with a private club lounge. The Texas Stars Hockey Club will be the main tenant of the new center, with plans to play in the American Hockey League (AHL), the primary development partner of the National Hockey League. The Texas Stars will be the primary affiliate for the NHL’s Dallas Stars, with plans to begin play in the 2009-10 season. A retail site of 17 acres is adjacent to the facility grounds for mixed-use development that will include 91,000 square feet for retail and 91,000 square feet for commercial.

About Deja Blue Arena
Deja Blue Arena at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco originally opened in 2003. It is currently under renovation to expand its capacity, scheduled to reopen in late Spring, 2009. The venue will seat approximately 5,500 for hockey and 6,000 for concert events. It serves as home to the Texas Tornado hockey club (NAHL) and the Frisco Thunder indoor football club (IFL). Deja Blue Arena plans to hold many various events, including graduations, concerts and family shows.
