Friday’s Stars-Oilers Game Available on FOX Sports Southwest Plus

by Dallas Stars Staff / Dallas Stars

Friday’s (Jan. 22) Dallas Stars-Edmonton Oilers game is the last of six Stars telecasts this season carried on FOX Sports Southwest Plus, a channel used by participating cable and satellite TV systems to accommodate program conflicts on FOX Sports Southwest. Coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. with the “Stars Live” pregame show, and will be available in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on:

Time Warner – Digital Channel 960 (requires digital cable box)
DirecTV – Channel 677
AT&T U-Verse – Channel 691

The game also will be joined live in progress on FOX Sports Southwest’s main channel at approximately 9:00 p.m. after the Mavericks-76ers “Mavs Live” postgame show, giving viewers whose program providers don’t carry FOX Sports Southwest Plus an opportunity to watch the rest of the contest.

If your program provider is not listed above, you are encouraged to contact them and request that they carry FOX Sports Southwest Plus so you won’t miss any of the local events carried on the channel. If you live outside of Dallas-Fort Worth, check with your local program provider for availability of FOX Sports Southwest Plus in your area.

Dish Network customers: Dish Network has chosen not to televise Friday’s game and possibly many more this season. FOX Sports Southwest added 20 Stars games and will show an all-time high 61 Stars games in 2009-10. Most distributors have agreed to carry the additional games, but Dish Network has declined to negotiate with FSN. FOX Sports Southwest remains ready to find a solution as we have with all of the other major distributors, but, unfortunately, FSN don’t expect a deal anytime soon. We believe there’s a real danger that Dish Network customers could miss nearly a third of the Stars season. Fans may wish to contact Dish Network and let them know you’d like to see all Stars games being offered on FOX Sports Southwest this season.

Charter Cable customers: Charter won’t have the equipment needed to receive FOX Sports Southwest Plus installed in time for Friday’s game. Charter expects to launch FOX Sports Southwest Plus in early February.

Verizon Fios customers: Verizon currently is not able to carry FOX Sports Southwest Plus due to technical issues. We continue to explore options with them to pick up the service. Verizon is aware of the problem and is working on a solution.

As FOX Sports Southwest continues to add more local programming, it will use FOX Sports Southwest Plus to simultaneously offer multiple events on two channels.  In addition to the Stars, FOX Sports Southwest Plus programming includes college football, college basketball, high school sports and other local events.

It has also made this a priority to make sure that all fans have access to every televised Stars game on the network.
