After officially unveiling their new third jersey at the Dr Pepper Luncheon at American Airlines Center on Tuesday, the Dallas Stars presented one of the new sweaters to a man Newsweek called “the most powerful actor on the planet,” Will Smith. The Hollywood star was in town for a Tuesday night screening of his new movie Seven Pounds, and four Dallas Stars – captain Brenden Morrow
, Mike Ribeiro
, Stephane Robidas
and Marty Turco – attended the premiere with their lovely wives. After participating in the red-carpet glitz and glamour and bearing witness to Smith’s incredible fan appeal, the Stars gave the star his new threads.
Ever the showman, Smith proceeded to remove his suit jacket to put on his new jersey – #7, in honor of the movie and in no offense to Neal Broten, whose #7 is retired for the franchise. “The Fresh Prince” wore the jersey over his shirt and tie during presentations from the Dallas mayor’s office and the Dallas ISD, and participated in red carpet interviews with his new white sweater. The two-time Academy Award nominee for Best Actor thrilled his numerous fans in attendance at the Cinemark 17 theater (I-635 and Webb Chapel), and made a generous donation to the North Texas Food Bank to supply local families in need with Thanksgiving turkeys.
The star of such box-office hits as Bad Boys, Men in Black, Independence Day, Ali and I Am Legend personally introduced his newest film, which is scheduled to open in theaters on December 19, to the packed theater, and received one last round of applause from the adoring crowd. The Dallas Stars were proud to participate in the exciting night at the movies, and the club officially welcomes Will Smith to its fan base… Two very enthusiastic thumbs-up, indeed!
