Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon missed Saturday’s game with a lower body injury. Dillon, who suffered the injury in Thursday’s game against Carolina, is listed as day to day.
“Hopefully it is just a couple more days,” Stars coach Lindy Ruff said.
With Dillon out, Aaron Rome was back in the lineup after being scratched in the Stars’ last three games and in four of the last five.
Ruff takes puck to face during game
Stars coach Lindy Ruff got dinged up in Saturday’s game, taking a puck to the face in the third period and suffering a cut between his eyes.
“I was just slow with the right hand. I saw it coming, but I will no longer be playing first base,” Ruff said.
Ruff toughed it out, staying on the bench.
“I’ll tell you what, I’ve been hit a lot harder,” Ruff said. “That was a little smack of the puck. I’ve taken a few more than that one there. It wasn’t bad.”
Ellis to start one of next two
The Stars have back-to-back games vs. Buffalo (Monday) and at Columbus (Tuesday), and Stars coach Lindy Ruff said backup goaltender Dan Ellis will start one of the two games. Ellis’ last start was Feb. 1 at Anaheim.
