Dallas Stars to Pick 13th in 2012 NHL Entry Draft

The Dallas Stars will have the 13th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, determined Tuesday evening in the National Hockey League Draft Lottery. The Edmonton Oilers won the Drawing, giving them the number-one overall pick in this year’s draft (moving up from the 2nd spot).


The Stars had a 0.8% chance of winning today’s drawing, with the opportunity to move up a maximum of four spots to the ninth overall pick.

The 2012 NHL Entry Draft is slated for June 22-23 at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA. The first round will take place on the evening of June 22 and be televised on NBC Sports Network. Rounds two through seven will take place on Saturday, June 23.

Recent first-round selections include, defenseman Jamie Oleksiak with the 14th pick in 2011, goaltender Jack Campbell with the 11th pick in 2010 and forward Scott Glennie with the eighth overall selection in 2009. It will be the Stars’ fourth time in franchise history to select at no. 13 and the first since 1984 when they picked David Quinn.
