All proceeds from theDallas Stars Foundation 50/50 Raffle presented by Moxie's raised during the game will be donated to the American Heart Association. The team will also be hosting survivors of cardiovascular diseases and stroke from the American Heart Association in a suite for the game. During the first intermission, Peverley will assist with selling 50/50 Raffle tickets on the concourse level at American Airlines Center.
Prior to the game against the Ducks, Peverley will join the Dallas Stars Street Squad in Victory Plaza to participate in street hockey with fans in attendance. Additionally, the American Heart Association will also be holding CPR demonstrations in Victory Plaza. Peverley will also be signing autographs in the concourse at American Airlines Center outside of Section 101 during the second intermission.
"For the third consecutive year, the Dallas Stars are helping us raise awareness for the American Heat Association, specifically for AEDs," Peverley said. "In partnering with the Stars, we've been able to place numerous AEDs around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. I'm honored that the Dallas Stars organization, owner Tom Gaglardi and our supportive fan base have embraced a cause that's extremely important and life-saving."
Peverley suffered a cardiac incident that led to his collapse on the bench in a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday, March 10, 2014. His heart condition ultimately led to his retirement from the game of hockey and he now serves as the Stars Player Development Coordinator.
Peverley appeared in 442 career regular season NHL games in his eight-year career, posting 241 points (84-157=241). He spent one season playing for the Stars, registering 30 points (7-23=30) in 62 games played, and was named the team's nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy. He was a part of the Stanley Cup winning Boston Bruins in 2010-11. During their run to the Stanley Cup, he recorded 12 points (4-8=12), including two game-winning goals, in 25 games played.
