The Texas Stars hit the road for the first time this season over the weekend, rallying for one point in Iowa on Friday before suffering their first regulation loss of the season the next night in Rockford.
The Stars are 1-1-2 through the first four games of the season and will play at Grand Rapids Wednesday before returning to Cedar Park where they'll open a four-game homestand this weekend.
Forward Denis Gurianov had a good weekend for Texas, tallying four points (two goals, two assists) in two games.

Friday, October 12: Iowa 4, Texas 3 (SO)

Denis Gurianov scored with 8.2 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and help Texas earn one point, but the Stars fell, 4-3, in a shootout as they opened a three-game road trip. After falling behind 1-0 in the first period, forward Adam Mascherin scored his first professional goal, and Gavin Bayreuther tallied on the power play to give Texas a 2-1 lead. Iowa tied the game later in the first and then took a 3-2 lead midway through the third before Gurianov tied the game. Gurianov, Travis Morin, and Mascherin failed to score in the shootout, and the Wild tallied once on three attempts against Stars goalie Landon Bow, who stopped 27 of 30 shots in regulation and overtime.

Saturday, October 13: Rockford 5, Texas 3

Texas held 2-1 and 3-2 leads in the game, but Rockford rattled off three unanswered goals in the third period, including an empty-netter, to win 5-3 and hand the Stars their first regulation defeat of the season. Denis Gurianov recorded one goal, and one assist and Justin Dowling and James Phelan also scored goals for Texas. Colton Point got his second start of the season and stopped 29 of 33 shots.

Idaho Steelheads

The Steelheads opened their season by going 1-1-1 in three home games this weekend. Goaltender Philippe Desrosiers, assigned to Idaho from the Texas Stars, played two games, posting a 1-0-1 record and stopping 63 of 69 shots. Dallas defense prospect Ondrej Vala played in all three games and recorded no points and a minus-3 rating.
