DALLAS -- Oh, what a night for Roope Hintz. His multi-shorthanded goal performance dazzled the sold-out crowd of 18,532 inside American Airlines Center and lifted the Stars to a resounding 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues.

Jamie Benn also contributed two points while Jake Oettinger delivered a sparkling 35-save performance to give the Stars two important points in the standings.
Here are the five takeaways of the game.

Hintz nets 2 shorthanded goals in a 4-1 victory

HIP, HIP, ROOPE!

Hintz' three-game scoring streak ended on Thursday in Minnesota, but the dynamic 25-year-old rebounded in a huge way on Saturday against the Blues. A true triple threat, Hintz can beat you at even strength, on the power play and on the penalty kill.
Hintz punished the Blues with two shorthanded goals to place him in rare company in the franchise's history books.

He became one of four players in franchise history to record two shorthanded goals in a game and the first in Dallas Stars history (1993-present) to accomplish the feat. It also marked the first time it had ever been done on home ice.
After going the first 11 games of the season without a goal, Hintz now has five in his past five games and ranks tied for first (with Benn and Tyler Seguin) in that category.

SPECIAL TEAMS KINDA NIGHT

Often the difference on any given night, special teams once again played a factor in the outcome of this one.
Ryan Suter's point shot early in the second period gave the Stars at least one power-play goal in eight of their past nine games. Dallas entered the contest tied for the third-best conversion rate in the NHL (26.8%, 11-for-41).
And on the penalty kill, if Hintz' first goal wasn't deflating, his second one sure was.

OETTINGER COMES UP BIG

The Stars needed a strong performance from their young netminder, and the 22-year-old was sensational. He finished with 35 saves on 36 shots to improve his record this season to 2-0.
Dallas' goalie of the future is performing in the present and has put together two impressive outings since getting called up from Texas of the American Hockey League last week.

BENN'S MULTI-POINT NIGHT

His empty-net tally in the third period gave him goals in three consecutive games and five points (three goals, two assists) in his past five.

STL@DAL: Benn scores in 3rd period

Benn also continued his strong play against the Blues. With his goal and assist, he upped his point streak against St. Louis to four straight games (two goals, three assists) and gave him seven goals and 10 points in his past eight meetings against them.
He did commit back-to-back penalties early in the third while the Stars held a one-goal lead, though.

ABILITY TO BOUNCE BACK

The Stars put together one of their best games of the season two nights following one of their worst. It was the kind of bounce-back performance they desperately needed, especially against a divisional foe above them in the standings.
They didn't sit on their heels against the Blues like they've been guilty of in past games. Though they made six trips to the penalty box (something Stars head coach Rick Bowness says will be addressed), the Stars dictated the play nearly from start to finish.
