Dallas Stars Sign Defenseman Patrik Nemeth To Entry-level Contract

Nemeth, 19, played for AIK of the Swedish Elite League this season, skating in 38 games and recording one goal, six assists and 18 penalty minutes. The 6-3, 212-pound defenseman played for Team Sweden at the 2011 World Junior Championship, appearing in six games and posting one assist, two penalty minutes and a +1 rating, helping his team to a fourth-place finish.
“Patrik is a very promising prospect in our system,” said Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. “He is a solid and physical player on the defensive side of the ice. We are looking forward to watching him develop as his career progresses.”
The Stockholm, Sweden, native spent the majority of 2009-10 playing for AIK’s junior club, accruing 20 points (1g, 19a) and 120 penalty minutes in 38 games. He also played for AIK Elite team during that season, dressing in 16 games for the club and recording three assists, eight penalty minutes and a +7 rating. He represented Sweden again in 2009-10 at the 2010 U-18 World Championships, where he skated in six games and posted two assists.
