Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has signed defenseman Jamie Oleksiak to a one-year contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Oleksiak, 23, recorded two points (0-2=2) in 19 regular-season games with Dallas during the 2015-16 campaign. The defenseman registered 54 hits in 2015-16, recording six-or-more hits in a game on four separate occasions. He recorded two assists (0-2=2) in eight games and had a +4 plus/minus rating with Texas (AHL) during a conditioning assignment from January 16-31.

The blueliner has earned 12 points (1-11=12) in 78 career regular-season contests for Dallas. He has accumulated 184 hits and 107 blocks during his four seasons with the Stars.

"Jamie brings size and a physical element to our backend," said Nill. "We're expecting him to have a solid summer of training and development and look forward to him competing for a regular spot in our lineup."

Oleksiak won the bronze medal with Team Canada at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship. He recorded a +4 rating and five shots on goal in six tournament contests.

The 6-foot-7, 260-pound native of Toronto, Ontario was originally selected by Dallas in the first round (14th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
