FRISCO, Texas- Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has signed defenseman Gavin Bayreuther to a one-year one-way contract, which will run through the 2023-24 season. The one-year deal is worth $775,000.

Bayreuther, 29, played the majority of the 2022-23 season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, posting a career-high 14 points (2-12-14) in 51 games. He added four points (0-4-4) in four games with the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL). Bayreuther spent the past three seasons in the Columbus organization, earning 23 points (3-20-23) in 103 games with the Blue Jackets and 19 points (3-16-19) in 23 games with the Monsters.

Prior to his time with Columbus, Bayreuther was a member of the Dallas Stars organization for four seasons. He made his NHL debut with the Stars in the 2018-19 season, appearing in 19 games and posting five points (2-3-5). He also played 198 regular-season games for the Texas Stars, Dallas' development affiliate in the AHL, from 2016-20 and tallied 91 points (22-69-91). He appeared in 22 games in the 2018 postseason, earning eight points (3-5-8) and a +3 rating en route to an appearance in the Calder Cup Final.

The 6-foot-1, 196-pound native of Canaan, New Hampshire, was originally undrafted and was signed by Dallas as a free agent on March 15, 2017. He was later signed by Columbus as a free agent on July 28, 2021.
