Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the team has signed center Travis Morin to a two-year contract extension. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Morin, 31, has registered 10 shots and a plus-1 rating in five games for Dallas this season. He has recorded a team-leading 31 points (14-17=31) in 30 games for Texas, Dallas' development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Last season, Morin led the AHL in scoring with 88 points (32-56=88) in 66 games for Texas and was awarded the AHL's Les Cunningham Award as the League's top player.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Brooklyn Park, Minn. has recorded one assist in 12 career NHL contests. In 380 career AHL games with Texas and Hershey, he has posted 327 points (113-214=327) and is the franchise leader for Texas in goals (113), assists (213) and points (326).
Morin was originally selected by Washington in the ninth round (263rd overall) of the 2004 NHL Draft, and was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 2, 2010.
