FRISCO, Texas -- Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nillannounced today that the club has signed centerJoel L'Esperanceto a two-year, entry-level contract.

L'Esperance, 22, split the 2017-18 campaign between the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL) and Michigan Tech of the Western Collegiate Hockey Conference (WCHA). The center recorded two points (1-1=2) in nine regular-season AHL contests with Texas. He also appeared in 22 postseason contests with Texas, recording four points (1-3=4) in his first trip to the Calder Cup Playoffs.
Prior to joining Texas, L'Esperance appeared in a total of 152 contests over four seasons at Michigan Tech, recording 98 (46-52=98) points during his collegiate career. The center has also appeared in 111 career regular-season United States Hockey League contests with Tri-City and Sioux City, logging 67 points (37-30=67) over parts of three seasons.
The 6-foot-2, 208-pound native of Brighton, Mich. was undrafted and was signed to an amateur tryout agreement on March 27, 2018.
